Sooyeon is a violinist and dedicated educator and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) candidate in Violin Performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, with a minor in Music History and Literature. She also holds a Master of Music and Performance Diploma from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Music from Seoul National University.

She brings extensive teaching experience working with students of all levels, from beginners to advanced musicians preparing for auditions, competitions, and youth orchestras. Her teaching emphasizes the development of strong technical foundations alongside expressive, confident musicianship, drawing on methods such as Ševčík exercises, etudes, and Carl Flesch scale studies to build reliable intonation, refined tone, and secure technique.

She believes that every student has a unique talent—a hidden gem—and is passionate about discovering that potential together while guiding students along their individual musical journey. She approaches teaching with the belief that every student can grow with the right balance of encouragement, structure, and clear goals. She strives to create a warm, supportive environment where students feel encouraged, gain confidence, and develop a lasting love for music.
