Haley - Violin, Viola
Haley is a viola and violin teacher and performer based in northern Indianapolis and Carmel. She teaches private lessons to students ages 7 and up, and enjoys curating the lesson curriculum to each student’s abilities and interests, whether they be more interested in classical music, fiddling, or movie themes.

The goal is to keep practice fun and interesting, while developing proper playing technique and music theory understanding. She has coached group sectionals in the Washington, Franklin Township, Zionsville, Carmel, and Fishers school districts, has taught in outreach programs for the Butler Community Arts School, and now holds a studio here at Meridian Music School. Her students have gone on to perform in the Butler Adult Strings Ensemble, Indianapolis Youth Orchestras, Indiana All-State Honor Orchestras, and Side-by-Side with the Indianapolis Symphony.

She holds a BA in Music from Butler University in Indianapolis, specializing in viola performance. Her teachers have included Richard Auldon Clark, Dr. Lisa Brooks, Francesco Borali, Silva Costanza, Kathryn Hershberger, and Laura Crawford.

She began playing viola at the age of ten. She found a talent for teaching when, in high school, she taught a friend to play the viola well enough to join the school orchestra. While in college, Haley studied in Milan, Italy with the concertmaster of the Milano Metropolitan Orchestra, Francesco Borali. Now, Haley enjoys performing for weddings and events with The Deoc Ensemble, and concerts with regional orchestras such as the Anderson Symphony, Orchestra Indiana (Formerly the Muncie Symphony and Marion Philharmonic), Lafayette Symphony, Columbus IN Symphony, and Danville Symphony. Recently, Haley joined the Booth Tarkington Civic Theater for their production of White Christmas, and was the violist of the string quartet in folk singer Carrie Newcomer’s Midwest concert tour.

Outside of work, she loves to read, take dance lessons, try out local restaurants, and spend time with her husband, Tim (another teacher at Meridian) and her cat, Autumn.
