Steven Murphy, originally from Upstate New York, has been teaching for 30 years. He has a Master of Music from Ithaca College. Steven plays and teaches in a variety of styles, including classical, rock, popular, and religious music. He also writes his own piano solos, and sometimes teaches them in lessons. Steven’s undergraduate degree is from State University of New York at Fredonia. There, he majored in Piano Performance and Music Theory. Steven won two grants from Cornell University in 1992 and 1994 for writing and performing music. Steven won best musical score in 1998 for his soundtrack to “Top Girls,” which was commissioned by Wells College.
