Ryan has taught bassoon and oboe since 1998, both privately and in group contexts.  He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in music composition and performance (major in bassoon, minor in oboe) and a Master of Music degree from Indiana University in bassoon performance.  He has been second bassoonist with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic since 2005 and principal bassoonist with the Carmel Symphony Orchestra since 2007.
