Lesia Minaieva

Flute, Piano

When I studied at the University, I thought that I really wanted to play in the orchestra and that was my goal, but one day changed everything, the day when I saw the shining eyes of my student who made his first flute sound.  I am originally from Ukraine, where I graduated from the Kharkiv State University of Arts and received my Master’s Degree in Flute Performance. I played in several orchestras and ensembles in Ukraine and taught flute and woodwind ensembles in Music School for children ages 4 to 18 years old. My students successfully participated in school concerts and competitions. After moving to the USA, I was fascinated by the way music education is delivered in public schools here. And be a part of this process has become my dream and main goal. In Virginia, I taught flute and piano on a private basis and music in early childhood in preschool for children from 2 to 6 years old. Before becoming a Music Teacher for young learners I received certification in Muskgarten Toddler’s Program and took the Music in Early Childhood Education class at UCLA.  Later I completed a course on the Carl Orff Method in Music Education Level 1 at George Mason University.  As a teacher, I aim to teach children to love music as I love it! I genuinely believe the more beautiful music there is in the world, the happier the world would be!
