Crystal Behan

Voice

Mezzo-soprano Crystal Behan is a devoted voice pedagogue with twenty years of experience at the university, high school, and middle school levels.  Before moving to Indianapolis from Columbus, Ohio, she served as Adjunct Professor of Voice at Wittenberg University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Cedarville University, and Kenyon College.  As a soloist she has premiered works at the Port Clinton Performing Arts Festival, in Handel’s Messiah under the direction of Peter Stafford Wilson, art song collaborations with university faculty colleagues, and has performed in numerous operas, operettas and musicals, from Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea at OSU to Southern Ohio Light Opera’s production of The Gondoliers.  From 2005-2011 she was an active member of the Opera Columbus professional chorus and also performed with their Education and Outreach program.  She holds a M.M. in Vocal Performance from The Ohio State University and a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Hope College, having studied with Dr. Robin Rice, Eileen Davis, and Margaret Kennedy-Dygas.
